In the Brave New Job program, I give my clients a tool called the Proactive One-Pager.
It’s a simple, one-page document you create to show – not tell – that you can solve the problems a company is hiring for.
It’s designed to help you:
- Get interviews you otherwise might not have gotten.
- Tip the odds in your favor against more experienced candidates.
My client Guly recently created a one-pager that had exactly this effect.
Here’s what she said:
“They don’t know if they’re going to open the position, but the project I sent was a game changer.
I talked to Maria, she’s the manager of the area, and she was like, ‘I completely loved it.’
‘If it opens, it would be amazing if you took the position because you have these insights that we need and you have ideas. I’ve seen your work and I love it.’
So it was a game changer. I sent my motivation letter and the CV—they probably didn’t even read it.
It was very funny because my boss was like, ‘What did you study again? I loved your project. I love it. I don’t know if we’re going to open, but it was amazing. What did you study again?’
So they didn’t even see my CV, you know. It’s funny. So it was really, really good.”
Here’s the video of our actual coaching call where she talks about it. I’ve never seen Guly light up this way during our whole engagement, so I’m really happy.
In addition to the one-pager, she now truly understands how to connect with people—and that it doesn’t have to be icky.
Congratulations, Guly. The job is still forthcoming, but now you get it. It’s only a matter of time.
P.S. Here’s the exact ChatGPT prompt my clients use to brainstorm their one-pager ideas (screenshot from the Proactive One-Pagers lesson inside Brave New Job). Want my help creating your one-pager and make sure it fits into your overall strategy (not just another random tactic)? Book a call and let’s talk!
